H10 Atlantic Sunset, Costa Adeje, Tenerife

We flew out on Monday 23rd from Bristol Airport. Our flight out was with Jet2 at 9.00am. I was dreading the festive rush however the airport was quiet and we breezed through security. Four hours later we’re in Tenerife and the sun was shining! The best thing about travelling to Costa Adeje, is that the transfer to the hotel is short. We were there within 40 minutes.

The H10 Atlantic Sunset hotel itself is beautiful. When you walk in, the first thing that hits you is the scent. It feels fresh and clean and sets the tone for the stay. The reception staff are welcoming and present you with refreshments immediately. Our room wasn’t ready, but we were given our all inclusive bands and advised where we could get food and drinks.

We opted for a family room. Being a family of five, it’s always a concern that we’ll feel claustrophobic or cramped however the rooms here are generously sized. We had a king size bed, a double sofa bed, and an additional bed. Whilst we were all in the same room, there was a marginal divide in areas however if we were to visit again I’d upgrade to a suite which would ensure two separate sleeping areas. However, we’d researched this prior to our visit so it wasn’t an issue and being Christmas, it meant that we were all together getting into the spirit of things. There was also a large furnished balcony and a bathroom with large shower, double sink and toilet. Loads of storage, a TV with UK channels and a mini-fridge that was restocked every other day, a coffee machine and fresh water was replenished daily.

Pools

I was impressed with the swimming pools. There was the family pool which had a splash park. My children are aged 7, 7 and 9 and they all enjoyed this. It was more like a waterpark. This area was separate to the family pool but essentially in the same area. There was also another large pool, which was quieter as well as an infinity pool. The views from the infinity pool were beautiful, and children were allowed to use it. These three pools can be accessed by all guests.

If we had upgraded to ‘privilege’ then we’d also have access to the rooftop infinity pool. This is adult only, which is why we didn’t opt for the extra. If we were to travel child-free I’d recommend going for this, as you also get a better room too and access to adult only restaurants.

Kids Clubs/Activities

Despite having three children and often wanting a break – we’re not overly fond of sending them to kids clubs while we’re away. We like to holiday together, and that means being together. What was different about the H10 Atlantic was the kids club room was next to the kids pool. Florence (aged 7) loved having time out to do arts and crafts, and I could see her often from my sun lounger. There were also scheduled activities so you could sign in and out as you pleased. Many of the events were held around the family pool, so again, we felt included despite them feeling like they were enjoying time away and making new friends. A big hit with my eldest (aged 9) was giant darts, inflatables and water mats. The staff were really encouraging and friendly too which made everything feel family orientated.

Restaurants

The hotel offers the usual buffet restaurant called ‘Central Market’. The standard of food for a buffet restaurant is very good. This is the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What I loved was the fact that you had to book your table via the app. This meant that the restaurant never felt busy, and we never had to que for food. You’d be seated, drinks were done on a table service basis and you’d go and use the buffet. There was something for everyone, my children enjoyed the novalty of their pasta being cooked for them. There was show cooking at most stations which meant that food was always hot, and served as fresh as possible.

While on an all inclusive plan, when you stay for seven days you can enjoy the a la carte restaurants. We dined at ‘Stomboli’ the Italian, and ‘Route 66’ the American style steak house and the ‘Circle Pool and Snack Bar’. The quality of food was exception at all of these, and the staff were very attentive, especially with the kids.

We also had a daily coffee at ‘Mike’s Coffee Shop’, they offered coffee, hot chocolates, milk shakes and cakes and it felt like a real treat.

There are more restaurants available to choose from, if you’re on the Privilege plan. The benefit of these being adult only – hence why we couldn’t go to them. I would come back as a couple to experience them as the experience is more indulgent.

Festive Feels

I was apprehensive about going abroad over Christmas, as I didn’t want the kids to miss out on the festive experience. The hotel went above and beyond my expectations. Activities included writing letters to Santa, posting letters to Santa, Christmas crafts, festive shows, meet and greet Santa, presents for all children and little touches like waking up to find a box of chocolates hanging on the door, candy canes left on the beds after they’d been cleaned and a Gala Dinner which we all dressed up for. These little extras made the holiday feel magical and I’d definitely stay again.
