Sunrise Oasis Hotel & Waterpark, Protaras, Cyprus

We flew out on Sunday 20th from Gatwick Airport. Our flight out was with EasyJet at 7.00am. We opted to stay at the the Crowne Plaza London Gatwick the night before so that we didn’t have such an early start. We actually flew into Paphos, which was on the other side of the island due to our original accommodation being in this area. We booked a private coach, and after a straight forward 2 hour drive we arrived at the Sunrise Oasis Hotel and Waterpark in Protaras.

First impressions were good. The reception area is clean, and airy with a bar. The reception staff were really welcoming and efficient. Considering we were a group of 7 families they were prepared and we all were allocated our rooms and explained the hotel rules promptly.

As a family of five we were allocated a one-bedroom suite with pool view. All of our party had prebooked suites. For us it was perfect. The suite consisted of a bedroom with double bed, a bathroom, an open plan living/dining kitchen area that had bunk beds and a sofa bed. This set up meant that we had our own space in the double room, and the kids each had a full-sized bed. There was also a balcony with table and chairs that overlooked the pool.

The rooms were clean and tidy, and equipped with what we needed. They were also UK sockets which means we didn’t need adapters and they were cleaned daily.

Pools

There was a main family pool that was a fair size, you could also swim up to the bar from there too. Adjacent to this was a water park that was open from 10am -12pm and then again from 2pm – 4pm which had a lifeguard allocated for those times.

There was also an adults only pool – we didn’t actually use it but always a nice extra to have.

One of the great things was there were no sunbed wars! On arrival you’re allocated two sun loungers, parasol, a table and beanbags for children and that’s your spot for the duration of your stay. If you want to move you can request to see what’s available. I’d recommend getting a spot on the grass as the sun is there all day. When we arrived they did their best to put us next to each other, and as the days went on we got closer and closer.

You also get fresh towels each day, you pick them up in the morning and drop them back at the end of the day which is fab!

Kids Clubs/Activities

As a large group of families our kids mainly entertained themselves, the biggest bonus was the new football pitch located outside the front of the hotel. It was enclosed and available to use all day. The kids spent hours in there either playing with themselves or other hotel guests.

There were daily activities in the pool, and children’s entertainment although we didn’t really make use of it. The evening entertainment was varied but we just kind of watched from the side lines. There was always something going on.

Restaurants

The buffet restaurant served varied food daily, it was fresh and something for everyone. It opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My favourite time to eat there was actually lunch time because they have a pizza oven making fresh pizzas and a lovely selection of salads.

The biggest bonus for us with this hotel is that the all inclusive option includes dine around. There were several restaurants on the Protaras strip that you could visit as part of the all inclusive. We particularly enjoyed the Lemongrass – Pan Asian restaurant and Kyklos which was Greek food. Both restaurants managed to accommodate 24 of us in one go, and it was really good to eat out away from the hotel.

The cocktails are also fab, and there was a bar lady called Suzie, she was really fun and friendly and got involved with the banter.
